Community Generosity on the Move: Donation received from Ear Falls Partner

Harmony Centre for Community Living extended a heartfelt thank you to the Royal Canadian Legion Red Lake Branch and KD Fine Foods for their generous donations recently.

We are excited to share some wonderful news that highlights the incredible support our organization receives from the communities we serve. On Saturday, Nov. 29/25, a group of individuals supported by Harmony Centre for Community Living, along with staff, travelled to Ear Falls to meet with our friends at KD Fine Foods and accept a generous $2,000 donation.

This contribution represents far more than a financial gift—it is a meaningful investment in accessibility, inclusion, and the independence of the people we support.

As part of a broader initiative to enhance transportation options for the individuals we support, the organization has been actively pursuing funding opportunities and community partnerships to increase transportation capacity and improve access to medical appointments, community participation programs, recreational activities, and social opportunities throughout the region.

We are pleased to share that the entire $2,000 donation has been directed towards this effort. Their generosity helps reduce the financial strain of this significant purchase and ensures that we can continue providing reliable, accessible transportation to the people who rely on us every day.

During the visit, individuals supported had the opportunity to offer their thanks in person—a moment filled with pride, gratitude, and a true sense of community connection. The store staff welcomed everyone warmly, reinforcing the strong relationships that make our region so special.

This donation is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when community partners come together to support inclusion and belonging. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Karen and Darryl Desjardins and Greg Purpur from Pratts for recognizing the importance of accessible transportation and for standing with Harmony Centre as we continue our mission.

Thank you to everyone who helped coordinate the visit and supported the individuals on this meaningful trip. And thank you to our community partners for making a real difference in the lives of the people we serve.

On May 9, 2026 Executive Director Jennifer Parsons was honoured to attend the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 102 in Red Lake to accept a donation on behalf of Harmony Centre. We are incredibly grateful for the Legion’s continued commitment to supporting organizations and initiatives that strengthen our community.

Community partnerships like these make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals we support and help us continue providing inclusive, person-centred services throughout the Red Lake and Ear Falls District.

Together, we Keep our Community Moving!
