Residential Support

Supported Independent Living

Supporting adults with developmental disabilities to live independently, with flexible staff support tailored to individual needs and goals.

About the Program

Harmony Centre for Community Living’s Supported Independent Living (SIL) Program is designed for adults with developmental disabilities who are able to live more independently but continue to benefit from structured support. SIL provides assistance that promotes autonomy, skill development, and community involvement while ensuring safety and stability.

Individuals in SIL live in apartments or shared living arrangements and receive scheduled or flexible staff support based on their individual needs. Staff assist with developing and maintaining life skills such as meal planning, budgeting, household management, personal care, and navigating community resources.

Support is guided by each person’s Individual Support Plan, with a strong focus on building independence, decision-making, and confidence. SIL also supports individuals to maintain personal relationships, engage in employment or community activities, and access health and wellness supports as needed.

The goal of Supported Independent Living is to empower individuals to live as independently as possible while knowing support is available when required.
