Residential Support
Intensive Support Settings
Supporting adults with developmental disabilities to live independently, with flexible staff support tailored to individual needs and goals.
About the Program
Harmony Centre for Community Living’s Intensive Support Setting (ISS) Program provides a safe, structured, and supportive residential environment for adults with developmental disabilities who require a high level of individualized support. These settings are designed to meet complex needs while promoting stability, dignity, and quality of life in a home-like setting.
An Intensive Support Setting is a staff-supported residence operated by Harmony Centre for Community Living, where one or two individuals live and receive intensive, personalized supports. The program provides 24-hour staffing to ensure consistent supervision, care, and responsiveness to individual needs.
Staff work closely with each individual to develop, review, and implement an Individual Support Plan (ISP). Supports are person-centred and tailored to each individual’s goals, preferences, strengths, and identified risks. ISPs are reviewed regularly to ensure supports remain responsive as needs change over time.
The program includes accommodation and daily living supports, including nutritious meals that meet individual dietary and medical needs, as well as household items such as bedding, linens, furnishings, and personal care supplies. Staff assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, medication administration, and meal preparation, while also supporting the development of life skills such as money management, banking, transportation use, and other daily routines.
Individuals are supported to participate in community activities and maintain meaningful connections with family, friends, and personal networks, as desired.
The program places a strong emphasis on health, safety, and wellness, including identifying safeguards, promoting personal safety, and responding to health concerns in a timely and supportive manner.
Where required, the Intensive Support Setting Program also provides specialized behavioural and/or medical supports, delivered under clearly defined clinical supervision to ensure safe, effective, and coordinated care.
